Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") is incorporated into the VehiclesDB Terms of Service. Violation of this AUP is a material breach. We may interpret and enforce this AUP in our sole discretion, and may suspend or terminate access immediately and without notice for actual or suspected violations.

1. Prohibited uses

You shall not use the Services, Content, or Data Products, directly or indirectly, to:

violate any applicable law, regulation, court order, or third-party right;
determine or influence any individual's eligibility for credit, insurance, employment, housing, government benefits, or any other purpose regulated by the FCRA or analogous laws (see Terms § 9.2);
obtain, disclose, or use personal information from motor vehicle records for any purpose restricted by the DPPA or analogous laws, or to identify, locate, track, surveil, contact, harass, stalk, dox, or profile any individual (see Terms § 9.3);
operate or inform safety-critical or high-risk systems, including vehicle operation or control, autonomous or assisted driving systems, or any application where data errors could cause death, injury, or damage (see Terms § 9.4);
make automated decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects on individuals without your own independent compliance basis;
build, populate, verify, correct, train, or improve any competing or substitute database, dataset, model, API, or service;
use the Services, Content, or Data Products to train, pre-train, fine-tune, distill, or update the weights of any AI/ML model, or to create or populate training datasets for any such model, absent a separate written license (inference-time use within plan limits is permitted — see Terms § 8.1(j));
scrape, crawl, harvest, bulk-download, systematically enumerate, or otherwise extract data outside the interfaces and limits we provide;
resell, redistribute, sublicense, syndicate, publicly mirror, or otherwise make the Services, Content, or Data Products available to third parties except as expressly licensed in a signed Order Form;
misrepresent provenance, remove or falsify notices, source citations, or attribution, or state or imply endorsement by us, by any data source, or by any vehicle manufacturer;
use any third-party logo, brand asset, or trade dress accessible through the Services, or use any third-party trademark in a manner that misleads or implies affiliation, sponsorship, or endorsement, or that exceeds truthful plain-text identification (no such material is licensed to you — see Terms § 6; truthful plain-text references, such as make and model names used to identify vehicles and their data, are permitted);
circumvent or attempt to circumvent authentication, metering, rate limits, paywalls, technical restrictions, or access controls, or share or pool Credentials to evade plan limits;
probe, scan, disrupt, overload, or attack the Services, or introduce malware or malicious code;
impersonate any person or entity, or register accounts by automated means or under false or misleading information;
publish misleading benchmarks of the Services, benchmarks of non-public or beta features, or benchmarks derived from unauthorized access (truthful reviews and good-faith, independently produced comparisons of generally available features are permitted — see Terms § 8.1(i)); or
export, re-export, or provide access in violation of export-control or sanctions laws.

2. Enforcement

We may investigate suspected violations; monitor, throttle, filter, or block traffic; remove or suppress any Content; suspend, limit, or terminate any account, key, or Service; preserve and disclose information as required by law or to protect our rights, customers, or the public; and pursue any other remedy available at law or in equity. We have no obligation to monitor, and no failure to enforce is a waiver.
